Advice on burglary prevention |
||
|
At this time of year as the winter nights draw in unfortunately the number of burglaries increase.
Please take a moment to read the below advice and remain vigilant in securing your property.
What makes your home attractive to burglars?
- A high front boundary, which hides perpetrators from view - A low side and rear boundary enables quick and easy access to garden - Accessible wheelie bins to climb on - No visible intruder alarm - No security lighting - Valuables on display - Open or unsecured windows - Unsecured garage or shed doors - No visible CCTV or video doorbell
Things to do before you leave home to help prevent you becoming a victim of burglary.
- Close and lock all doors and windows - In the evening pull curtains/blinds and leave a light on - Set your burglar alarm even if only going out for a short time - Never leave important documents or ID in obvious places - Put keys out of reach of letter box and front door. - Hide small electronic devices and jewellery away. - Register valuable items with www.immobilise.com The UK national property register.
